The bread proofing baskets are well made, and the cloth cover can be used as both as a cover for your bread as it proves or just a barrier between the bread and basket. If your bread is high hydration, make sure to flour the cloth and the basket well to prevent sticking. Having both a boule and loaf shaped basket is really nice for different types of bakes. The danish whisk is really helpful to initially mix your sourdough starter or instant yeast with water and other additives like salt, sugar or oil, as well as helping you getting your bread together in a shaggy consistency before kneading. What I liked most about this set is the silicone mat. Before, I would have to either use parchment paper, which would always leave indents in my breads, or would sometimes get baked into the bread. If I didn't use parchment paper, I would have to put the bread into a sorching hot dutch oven, which was always extremely risky. With the silicone mat, I can put my proofed breads onto the centre and score it before using the handles of the mat to lift and safely and easily lower it into the dutch oven. Overall, it's a very comprehensive set that includes all the basics for bread making for levels of baking. The items included are sturdy and well made.

I make sourdough most weeks and like to bake two or three loaves at a time and freeze the extra. This is a great sourdough set with two perfectly sized rattan bannetons - a round and an oval, you also get a lamé with some extra razor blades, a sourdough mixing whisk, a scraper, a brush for brushing excess flour out of the proving baskets and a silicone baking sling. It’s a lovely set at a reasonable price. I prefer rattan bannetons as they make a nice pattern on the loaf and when well floured the dough will not stick - I never use a cloth inside, but two linen liners are provided if you like to use them. This would also make a great present for someone who wants to get into sourdough bread baking as it contains all you will ever need!

I had to watch tutorial videos in how to best use a banneton bowl but I ended up doing things very differently due to incorporating my own bread making methods. I chose not to use the linen cover as I wanted the bowl rings imprinted onto the dough. So, I first dampen the inside of bowl by sprinkling water around and seeping it with a tea towel. Then cover the inside with flour to avoid dough sticking to the bowl (rice flower is recommended but I only had white flower and that worked totally fine, no sticking occured). I let it dry for half hour. In the meantime, I made my dough with the same plain white flour and yeast. I placed the dough into the bowl and then let it raise in a corner for about an hour; ambient temperature was around 14deg. I did not put in refrigerator overnight as bakers do, I make my bread fast, hey, I'm not a masterchef! Then I flipped the banneton bowl over and placed it into a nonstick cake pot. The bowl rings were nicely engrained into the dough...good work banneton bowl! I didn't need to use the silicon baking mat but for the sake of testing it, I thought I'll use it. I wish I didn't. The baking mat flaps covered the top of the bread in the overn, slowing the browning at the top. The mat is so rigid that I could not bend it out and have it stay that way. So, I took out the mat and continued baking it. I baked in a gas oven for 45 minutes until it was golden brown. As my pictures show, the bread came out nicely and it was delicious, soft with a great crust. As for the other tools, they're all fine. I never use a Bread Lame before, and I don't think I want to ever use it as the blade is completely exposed and it's such a horrible tool to have around on a counter. The blades are thankfully well stored in triple layers inside a leather wallet case. I have no doubts of its effectiveness as a bread pattern cutter, but I just feel so unsafe with it around. I give four stars because there is no guidance instructions included, especially for the Bread Lame which really need some safety tips and guidance on how to put the blade on. In my picture, I figured out how just by looking at the product picture.

Sus cestas están hechas de ratán indonesio, es suave y sin astillas, perfectas para fermentar el pan ya que su material en forma de espiral hace que aire la masa y asi sube mejor y se logra una corteza crujiente, vienen con dos fundas de lino ajustables, perfectas para tapar la masa en su momento de fermentación y después para cubrir las cestas y colocar el pan hecho en ellas. Incluye un cepillo para lavar las cestas de manera sencilla, un utensilio aireador para hacer la masa del pan bastante bueno y manejable, cuchillas para los cortes del pan, una rasqueta para terminar de amasar el pan, cortar la masa y hacerle forma y una esterilla de silicona con asas para sacar el pan del horno sin quemarse. Se ve que todo es de muy buena calidad, es el conjunto perfecto para fermentar pan y otras masas, lo recomiendo al 100%.
