This sourdough bread mixing and proofing kit is excellent quality and extremely good value. The set comprises two rattan bread proofing baskets/bannetons, each with a liner made from natural material; a dough whisk; a scoring lame (and blades) with a protective cover; a brush (for removing excess four from the baskets after use); a plastic scraper; a metal scraper; an instruction leaflet; and a recipe leaflet. I use a sourdough recipe from BBC Good Food, but the recipes provided in this kit look promising too. One of the bannetons is round and the other oval. You need to rinse them with water prior to use and ensure they are dry before use. I have not used them yet with the liners, preferring instead to bake loaves with the ridged lines characteristic of rustic, traditional sourdough loaves. You need to generously rub flour inside the bannetons prior to placing the dough in them to prove, ensuring that flour is in all the crevices so that the dough doesn’t stick. My loaves proofed in these bannetons overnight in the fridge turned out wonderfully. I couldn’t be more pleased with the kit, and would very highly recommend it.

I was given a sourdough starter by a friend and now its become my Saturday ritual to feel my starter and make my bread. I find it so rewarding and this bread proofing set has everything needed to achieve great results. I must admit, practice has definitely improved my end result The round and oval baskets are sturdy, it's well-made, and the natural rattan gives that lovely traditional pattern on the crust. The liners fit really well and are easy to wash after use. The extras in the set are super handy, especially the dough whisk and scraper. The scrapper is a game changer. I use everything in the set when making my sourdough.. Perfect for anyone looking to get into making their own sourdough at home. There's a ton of excellent tutorials on YouTube to get started, and the process of making sourdough is long, not in terms of making it, but the having to prove, leave overnight, etc. The satisfaction of taking out the oven and revealing your very own homemade bread is quite something, and the smell of baking bread is so nice. I've been wanting to try making sourdough for a while, and this set contains everything you need to get started. The utensils all look to be of good quality, and there are two different baskets to make different shaped loaves. The baskets have removable cloth liners for easy cleaning, although you can't bake bread in them, so will need to transfer the dough to an ovenproof dish once ready. The set includes a leaflet with some brief care instructions, and there's also a booklet with a few different recipes to try. Looking forward to giving it a try!
